Our client is a fast growing, privately owned Houston based construction company with a well established, friendly and dedicated accounting team.
Our client has experienced extensive growth, and combined with more than 50 years of success, the company is ready to go to the next level.
This team is looking for a promotable Controller who can manage the accounting team, process and maintain responsibility for all financial reporting.
This role will manage KPIs for the accounting department related to financial performance and compliance, team performance and engagement, efficiency and Internal Controls.
The Controller will work closely with the CFO to establish targets and monitor progress.
Specifically, this position will be responsible for the following:
Responsibilities:
Assist the CFO in developing and implementing financial strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives and drive growth.
Manage and oversee all aspects of financial accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
Ensure financial compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, including the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and tax filings.
Analyze financial data and provide insights to the CFO and executive leadership to support decision-making processes and inform the development of strategic plans.
Supervise and develop a high-performing accounting team, providing guidance and support to ensure the continuous development of financial competencies.
Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure the timely and accurate completion of annual audits and compliance reviews.
Implement and maintain effective internal financial controls, policies, and procedures, in alignment with the CFO's strategic direction.
Monitor and evaluate the company's financial performance, identifying trends, areas of concern, and opportunities for improvement.
Support cross-functional collaboration and communication, ensuring alignment between the accounting team and other departments within the organization.
REQUIREMENTS:
4 year accounting degree requiredCPA strongly preferred10
years of progressive accounting leadership experience requiredConstruction industry experience desirableStrong managerial skills required as this role will manage a 5 person teamExperience with an ERP system required along with strong Excel skillsAbout the Company:
